This site is designed not only as a guide to the resources available online dealing with Gnosticism in a contemporary setting, but also to provide a sort of comparative system for understanding the organization of the various Gnostic churches in the United States. This organization is complicated by the fact that some churches bearing similar titles are historically related while others are not, and theology and practices often differ widely from one church to another. Added to this is the synthesis of a variety of religious practices within many of these the churches themselves, ranging from Hermeticism to services which resemble Catholicism. Such a convoluted history, combined with similarities in naming and this amalgamation of religious traditions, quickly becomes confusing. To this end, this guide is designed to aid in sorting these confusions out.
